Judiciary Accused of Withholding Taxes on Procured Goods

– As the outgoing chief justices’ Administration is being questioned

Monrovia – A damning finding from the GAC, has revealed that the Judiciary’s Finance Department, under the administration of Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh, failed to remit Goods and Services Tax (GST) on multiple procurement transactions between 2022 and 2023.

‎The lapse, uncovered in official financial reviews, raises serious concerns over potential revenue loss and a breach of national tax laws. Authorities say no evidence was provided to show compliance with mandatory GST payments.

‎Tax experts believe that such violations, if left unchecked, could continue to undermine public trust and weaken national revenue collection efforts. Now the question remains, will outgoing chief justice Yuoh and others walk with impunity after these massive corruption reports or the Boakai-Koung administration is only concern about replacement?

Can the government rely on nominated Chief Justice to prosecute the retired and other actors, especially a system he’s associated with?

Critics believe that the handling of justice Yuoh and others with multiple corruption allegations in the judiciary will highlight the level of fight against corruption and not selective.
