House Summons Justice Minister, Police IG, and Voinjama Commander Over Child Death and Disappearance in Lofa

The House of Representatives has summoned the Justice Minister and Inspector General of Police to appear before the full plenary on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to address troubling reports of a child’s death and another’s disappearance in Lofa County.

The House’s decision followed a formal communication from Representative Gizzie Köllince, who raised urgent concerns about two separate incidents involving minors—the death of Little Yarkpawolo Moisemah in Voinjama City and the disappearance of Little Fesseh Aggrey in Konia Town.

According to Rep. Köllince, Little Yarkpawolo was allegedly killed while in police custody in Voinjama, a development that has sparked public outrage and calls for justice. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Little Fesseh Aggrey remain unknown, prompting growing fears among residents and families in the area.

In his communication, Rep. Köllince stressed that the legislative intervention aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and justice and to restore public confidence in Liberia’s law enforcement institutions.

The House also mandated the appearance of the Voinjama Depot Commander, and the officer was reportedly linked to the death of Little Yarkpawolo. Lawmakers say their testimonies will be crucial in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

In a statement, the House described the matters as being of national concern, underscoring the need for swift and credible action to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens—particularly children.

The invited officials are expected to provide comprehensive reports and respond to lawmakers’ inquiries when they appear before the plenary session next week.
