Monrovia, August 27, 2025 – Liberia’s newly inducted Chief Justice, His Honor Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, has ordered a sweeping credential audit and personnel verification exercise covering all judges, magistrates, and employees of the Judiciary.
According to an internal memo obtained by Verity News, the Civil Service Agency (CSA) will begin the audit on Thursday, August 28, in Montserrado County. The week-long process is scheduled to run through September 4, 2025, with a focus on verifying academic credentials and qualifications of all Judiciary staff.
Chief Justice Gbeisay, who assumed office on August 15, pledged during his induction to pursue reforms aimed at restoring integrity and public confidence in the judicial system. “As part of our commitment to accountability and service excellence, we will conduct credential audits to ensure that all staff of the Judiciary have the required academic qualification and experience,” he said at his inaugural ceremony.
The CSA has deployed three specialized teams to oversee the audit: Team A, based at the Temple of Justice, will cover judges, magistrates, directors, and other personnel at the Temple and the West Point Magisterial Court.
Team B, stationed at the Paynesville Magisterial Court, will handle personnel from Paynesville, Omega, Careysburg, Bensonville, and Todee courts.
Team C, operating from the Gardnersville Magisterial Court, will oversee audits for staff from Gardnersville, Bushrod Island, Brewerville, and Arthington courts.
A statement from the Judiciary’s Office of Public Information emphasized that the exercise is mandatory. All staff must present original academic documents and National Identification Cards, with non-compliance carrying “severe administrative consequences.”
Chief Justice Gbeisay lauded the CSA’s leadership for supporting the initiative, describing it as a vital step toward institutional reform, capacity building, and safeguarding professional integrity within Liberia’s judicial system.
