Kakata, Margibi County -( July 11, 2025) – The Grand Bassa County debate team has reached the Grand Final of the 2025 Voices Liberia National Debate Meet (NDM) Championship, marking a historic milestone for both the county and the national academic community

Grand Bassa’s path to the final has been hailed as a model of academic excellence, marked by disciplined research and a series of unanimous victories over Montserrado, Bomi, Margibi, and Bong Counties, an exceptional achievement in the tournament’s history.

Represented by the DRIMS School System, the team guided by coach Christopher R. Martin, Captain Marie G. Voinyegar, Ellen Vah, Harriet Goffa, Michael A. Tiah, Gabriel Harris, and Jacklyn Jackson has shown impressive performance with strong speaking skills, confidence, and teamwork.

Prior to their semifinal match on Thursday, the team received a moral boost through a visit from Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence of Grand Bassa County. Senator Lawrence contributed 100,000 Liberian Dollars to assist the team’s preparation and logistics.

In addition, Senator Nathaniel McGill (Margibi County) and Senator Prince K. Moye Kogar (Nimba County) jointly donated $400 USD each, earmarked in part for a trophy to recognize the winning team of the tournament.

Team Bassa success has sparked celebration across Buchanan City, with schools, organizations, and leaders expressing pride and eager anticipation for the upcoming final this Saturday July 12, 2025 against Zewdru Multilateral High, Grand Gedeh County.
