—-Political Alignment and Realignment, A Pre Test for 2029
Gbarnga City, Bong County – Representative Josiah Marvin Cole, a sitting lawmaker from Bong County Electoral District #3 and a prominent member of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has officially joined the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) ahead of the 2029 presidential and legislative elections.
In a brief statement during his declaration, Rep. Cole emphasized his continued commitment to opposition politics, stating that he remains focused on aligning with any leading opposition party committed to challenging the ruling Unity Party (UP). This stance, he noted, motivated his decision to join the CMC.
“I am an opposition lawmaker, and I will continue to support any political movement that is prepared to hold the ruling establishment accountable,” Rep. Cole said, calling on his supporters to embrace the CMC as their new political home.
Following his endorsement of the party, CMC Political Leader Hon. Musa Hassan Bility welcomed Rep. Cole and immediately appointed him as Vice Chairman for Operations nationwide. Bility hailed Cole’s defection as a significant boost for the party’s visibility and political strength in Bong County.
“Representative Cole is the face of Bong County politics,” Bility remarked. “His popularity and influence will give the CMC a greater edge as we prepare for the 2029 elections.”
He further noted that the lawmaker’s inclusion would strengthen the party’s outreach and advocacy efforts, especially in key areas such as youth empowerment, women’s development programs, and community transformation.
As a gesture of commitment and support, Hon. Bility presented a brand-new CHANGAN pickup to Rep. Cole for operational use in his new role. He also pledged to construct a major bridge in Gbarnga City, which is expected to enhance connectivity between several communities within the municipality.
