Speculation surrounding the leadership of Liberia’s electoral body has been firmly rejected by Eddie Jarwolo, who has dismissed reports suggesting he is set to assume the top position at the National Elections Commission.
The rumors began circulating shortly after the resignation of Davidetta Browne Lansanah, prompting widespread discussion on social media and within political circles about a potential successor. Among the names mentioned was Jarwolo, the Executive Director of NAYMOTE Partners for Democratic Development.
However, speaking in a direct phone conversation, Jarwolo categorically rejected the claims, describing them as unfounded.
“The rumors are false,” he stated, making it clear that no such appointment has been offered or accepted.
Jarwolo further emphasized that his focus remains on his current responsibilities at NAYMOTE, where he continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy, promoting government accountability, and empowering youth leadership across Liberia.
The civil society advocate also expressed satisfaction with the progress and impact of his work within the non-governmental sector, noting that he has no plans to transition to the electoral commission at this time.
His clarification comes as an effort to dispel misinformation and provide clarity to the public and key stakeholders regarding the leadership status of both institutions.
