Kingba Musu, a 33-year-old resident of Karluway District, Maryland County, who had been reported missing since January 9, 2026, was found alive, sparking an ongoing investigation by local security officials.
Authorities allege that Musu’s disappearance was orchestrated by his mother, Madam Martha Musu, who reportedly handed him over to a woman named Vero from Karloken as part of a suspected witchcraft-related network.
On January 12, 2026, at around 8:30 a.m., Liberia Immigration Service Commander John Blamo, Inspector Samuel T. Brown Jr., and the Karluway District Police Commander visited Warteken Town to investigate delays in reporting the case. General Town Chief Isaac Sieh informed them that Musu had been located. Upon seeing him, officials observed visible injuries, including facial bruises and a swollen, reddened left eye, suggesting possible abuse. Emergency medical care was immediately arranged.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Musu’s disappearance and the alleged mistreatment. The incident has highlighted growing concerns about missing persons in Karluway District. Similar unresolved cases include a 50-year-old man who disappeared in March 2024, 45-year-old Anthony W. Toe in July 2024, and motorcyclist Obediah Nyakpor on January 5, 2026, in Barrobo.
Law enforcement officials have pledged a thorough investigation, warning that anyone found responsible for abuse or complicity will face legal consequences.
