“They Are Afraid of My Competence” Samuel D. Tweh Accuses Unity Party of Political Targeting

Former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweh has accused the Unity Party-led administration of conducting personal and political assaults against him, stating the ruling party considers him one of the most skilled and vocal persons capable of exposing its shortcomings.
During a recent speech on a Monrovia radio station, Tweh stated that the Unity Party is aiming to sideline and discredit him because of his technical awareness of national issues.
Tweh claims that as early as July 2020, he was one of many important technocrats in the CDC administration who publicly discussed and worked on energy sector changes.

He argued that l the Unity Party is fully aware of his role and expertise and now sees him as a political threat. “They know what I am capable of. They know my record. That is why they want to silence me,” Tweh asserted.

In response to accusations about the harmonisation strategy, Tweh refuted conjecture that the CDC lost the 2023 general elections due to pay harmonisation under the Weah administration. He argued that harmonisation was not to blame for the CDC’s electoral setback, labelling such assertions as false and politically motivated.

Instead, Tweh accused the Unity Party of winning the election via outright falsehoods, disinformation, and propaganda, pointing out that, despite their strong condemnation of harmonisation while in opposition, the present administration has failed to alter or amend the policy since assuming office.
“If harmonisation was so bad, why haven’t they undone it?” Tweh questioned.

A Battle for Narrative and Credibility
Tweh’s comments exacerbate rising political tensions, as former CDC officials continue to question the Unity Party’s administration performance, accusing it of targeting competent critics rather than fulfilling campaign pledges.
As Liberia struggles with economic hardship, electricity shortages, and public sector unrest, Tweh’s words are expected to exacerbate the national discussion over accountability, governance, and political fairness.

“We, the so-called losers, are not angry. It is the winners who are angry because they won by a slim margin after defrauding the Liberian people. If they truly believe we are irrelevant, why do officials at the Ministry of Information continue to hurl insults?

They lash out because we continue to expose them for lying to Liberians. The harmonization cannot be reversed; the only option left to them is to apologize.

Ngafuan is operating within the CDC framework and is allowing the man from the CSA to mislead him. Let me be clear: members of the Unity Party have already told him that harmonization cannot be undone. The Unity Party has become nothing more than window dressing. The so-called yellow machines and other claims are all lies.” Former Finance Minister Tweh said.
