Beijing, China – October 14, 2025 — The Union of Liberian Students in China (LSUIC), in collaboration with the Liberian Women in China, is set to host a special Breast Cancer Awareness Day in memory of the late Kate Weah, a beloved member of the Liberian community.
The virtual event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM (China time), will be held via the LSUIC Zoom platform. It aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote women’s health education, and celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. Weah, who was remembered for her compassion and contributions to the Liberian community in China.
According to Ruphine Harmon, Vice President of LSUIC, the initiative underscores the Union’s commitment to advocacy and community engagement beyond academic pursuits.
“This observance is not only a tribute to our late sister Kate Weah but also a reminder of the importance of regular health checkups and early detection,” Harmon said.
Participants, particularly women, are encouraged to join the online session for what organizers describe as an “insightful and empowering discussion” focused on breast cancer prevention, support systems, and awareness within the Liberian diaspora community.
The LSUIC and Liberian Women in China continue to foster unity and social responsibility through such programs, using education and solidarity to inspire positive change among Liberians living abroad.
