Believers Eastern Church Brings Hope to Liberia: 1,000 Children Receive School Supplies as Football Academy Transforms Lives

Monrovia, Liberia — A renewed sense of hope and transformation is sweeping through some of Monrovia’s most vulnerable communities as the Believers Eastern Church launches a series of life-changing initiatives aimed at empowering children and families. Through its Community Transformation Project (CTP) and the newly established Believers Football Academy, the church is restoring dignity, nurturing potential, and building a brighter future for Liberia’s next generation.

Recently, more than 200 residents from the seven zones of Doe Community gathered to witness the church’s transformative work firsthand. The event centered around the distribution of school bags, shoes, copybooks, and stationery to over 1,000 children across the Lakpazee, Matadi, and Doe communities—a timely intervention as families prepare for the new academic year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Evangelist Aashish of the Believers Eastern Church explained that the Community Transformation Project was designed to go beyond charity.

“Our aim is to bring hope, healing, and transformation — to restore dignity, encourage self-reliance, and support both spiritual and social renewal in the community,” he said.
Under the leadership of Father Sachin Pakhre, the project forms part of the church’s broader mission to empower communities through education and development. Since its launch, the initiative has conducted 14 awareness programs in Doe Community, 19 in Lakpazee, and 12 in Central Matadi, reaching more than 1,300 parents with training and guidance on how to support their children’s education.

“Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty,” Father Sachin emphasized. “This project is about partnership and building together. It’s not about what the church can give, but what we can achieve together.”
In communities where daily survival often takes precedence over education, the CTP has become a beacon of hope. By providing children with school materials and families with empowerment programs, the initiative is helping to rekindle dreams and restore faith in the future.

Football as a Tool for Transformation

Beyond education, the Believers Eastern Church is also using sports as a vehicle for change. The newly launched Believers Football Academy in Doe Community is giving children structured opportunities for growth, discipline, and mentorship — both on and off the field.

For years, many children in the community have lacked access to organized recreational activities. But according to Coach Batee Moore, head of the academy, that reality is shifting.

“Football is not just a game; it’s a foundation,” Coach Moore said. “Every great footballer starts somewhere, and we believe the next George Weah or Lionel Messi could come from right here in Doe Community.”

The academy goes beyond athletic training. It integrates mentorship, education, character development, and community engagement, helping young people build values such as teamwork, humility, and leadership.

“Many people see these children as nobodies, but we see potential,” Coach Moore added. “Through this academy, we can turn that potential into greatness. We want them to dream big and believe they can represent Liberia and compete on the global stage.”

Currently, 50 promising young players have been selected for advanced training, with 20 additional players in reserve. Coach Moore explained that selection was based not only on football skill but also on discipline, cooperation, and passion for growth.

“We are not just preparing these boys and girls for local competitions — our dream is to see them compete internationally,” he stated. “We want them to wear the Liberian flag with pride and show the world what is possible when opportunity meets determination.”

Building a Brighter Tomorrow

Both the Community Transformation Project and the Believers Football Academy share a common vision: empowering Liberia’s children and families with hope, dignity, and opportunity. Guided by faith and compassion, the church’s efforts are transforming entire communities — proving that when people unite for a cause, meaningful change follows.

“This is only the beginning,” Father Sachin concluded. “With God’s grace, we will continue to walk alongside our communities, build stronger futures, and create opportunities for every child to rise.”

Through education, sports, and spiritual development, the Believers Eastern Church is lighting a path of transformation — one child, one family, and one community at a time.
