Bong County, Liberia – August 28, 2025 – Mr. Isaac Garyeazon Redd Sr., former Deputy Director General for Rural Broadcasting Services at the Liberia Broadcasting System (ELBC), has once again called for the road to Kpatawee Waterfalls to be paved. He says this project is essential for boosting tourism and economic growth in Bong County.
Speaking on Super Bongese Radio on Thursday, Mr. Redd described Kpatawee as an “untapped gold mine” held back by poor road conditions. He believes that paving the road and adding proper lighting would attract more visitors and create new business opportunities for local communities.
“A paved road with lighting will transform the county and open up business chances,” Mr. Redd said.
He mentioned that he has already talked with Senator Prince Kermue Moye, other Bong County lawmakers, and officials from the Liberia National Tourism Authority, all of whom are interested in making improvements to the waterfall site a priority.
Besides tourism, Mr. Redd also called for artificial turf to be installed at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga, pointing out that the current natural field is “unsafe and unfit” for players.
On national politics, Mr. Redd criticized the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for not building a permanent headquarters while in power. He warned CDC supporters not to blame the current Unity Party-led government for this. He also urged Liberians to avoid politicizing every issue and instead focus on long-term development.
Kpatawee Waterfalls has long been a favorite spot for both Liberians and visitors, especially during holidays like Christmas. Mr. Redd stressed that improving the road and adding lighting would not only boost tourism but also help improve the livelihoods of people living nearby.
