Representative Nehker Gaye Joins President Boakai’s Delegation to TICAD 9 Summit in Yokohama, Japan

Representative Nehker Gaye of Nimba County, District #3 has departed Liberia to participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled for August 20–22, 2025, in Yokohama, Japan. He is attending as a member of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s official delegation.

The TICAD Summit, co-organized by the Government of Japan, the United Nations, the World Bank, and the African Union Commission, serves as a premier platform for high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and global development partners.

Liberia’s Role and Focus

Representative Gaye’s participation underscores Liberia’s commitment to engaging in strategic international partnerships that can foster sustainable development. At TICAD 9, he will interact with African leaders, development partners, and private sector representatives to explore opportunities for collaboration, trade, and investment.

The Summit’s agenda will center on critical issues, including: Sustainable economic growth and industrial development Infrastructure expansion and digital connectivity Climate change and renewable energy Health and education sector improvements Private sector participation in Africa’s development.

Advocacy for Liberia

Representative Gaye intends to use the platform to highlight Liberia’s investment potential while advocating for stronger partnerships to address pressing national and continental challenges.

“The TICAD Summit offers Liberia the chance to showcase its opportunities, strengthen development ties, and draw lessons from best practices across Africa and beyond,” he emphasized ahead of the trip.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

Through this engagement, Liberia aims to deepen its integration into global development frameworks, attract foreign investment, and secure support for national priorities in agriculture, infrastructure, education, health, and energy.

Representative Gaye’s participation reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to position itself as an active and constructive partner in the global development dialogue.
