Why Has the NEC Not Explained the Disappearance of Sinoe’s Elections Magistrate?

The leadership of the House of Representatives has summoned the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC) to appear before a leadership meeting, following a formal request from Sinoe County District #3 Representative, Alex S. Noah.

Representative Noah called on Plenary to invite the NEC Chairperson to provide clarity on the whereabouts of Sinoe County’s Senior Elections Magistrate, Solomon Jaryenneh, whose disappearance has raised serious concern among citizens and lawmakers.

According to Noah, information from family members indicates that Mr. Jaryenneh has been missing since early April 2026. He reportedly attended an NEC-organized workshop in Maryland County in late March 2026 and has not been seen since.

Noah emphasized that, given the sensitive role of a Senior Elections Magistrate, the situation requires urgent attention and a clear response from the NEC. He noted that the absence of any public update for nearly three months has increased anxiety among the magistrate’s family, residents of Sinoe County, and the general public.

He also questioned what steps the Commission has taken to locate Mr. Jaryenneh and expressed concern over what he described as insufficient communication on the matter.

After reviewing the communication, House leadership agreed to summon the NEC Chairperson to provide an update and explain the actions being taken in response to the disappearance.

The House reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability, particularly on issues affecting public institutions and national interest.
