Is an Internal Power Struggle Dividing the MDR?

A public online dispute between Tabitha Kogar, daughter of Senator Samuel G. Kogar, and Yeakeh Sayequee, a supporter of Vice President Jeremiah Koung, has brought internal tensions within the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) into the spotlight.

The exchange began when Tabitha Kogar questioned Sayequee’s suitability for his senior government role. She criticized his public communication, pointing to frequent spelling and grammatical mistakes as well as unclear messaging, and suggested he improve his writing and communication skills before engaging in political discussions.

In response, Sayequee dismissed her remarks and redirected the issue toward her father, insisting the matter should concern him and Senator Kogar directly. He further alleged that Senator Kogar has difficulty with English and has, at times, addressed official gatherings in his native dialect—claims he argued have embarrassed Nimba County. He also made a remark suggesting the need for language classes at the Senate.

The exchange highlights increasing divisions within the MDR, as supporters of Senator Kogar and Vice President Koung continue to clash publicly amid ongoing internal disagreements.
