“Liberia Is Failing?” CDC–COP Chairman Attacks Boakai–Koung Government, Predicts 2029 Opposition Comeback

The Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change–Council of Patriots (CDC–COP), Foday N. Massaquoi, has delivered a strong criticism of the current Liberian government, accusing the Boakai–Koung administration of what he described as widespread governance failures across the country.

Speaking at a political gathering in Montserrado County District #15, Massaquoi said the meeting was more than a routine political event. He described it as a platform where opposing views were openly debated and where, according to him, “facts were used to challenge propaganda and misinformation.”

During his remarks, the CDC–COP chairman painted a grim picture of Liberia’s current situation, arguing that the country is facing serious economic, political, and institutional challenges under the leadership of President Joseph Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Koung.

Massaquoi claimed that the present state of governance has created growing dissatisfaction among citizens and could open the door for a political comeback by the opposition in the 2029 general elections.

“This situation sends a clear message across the political landscape,” he said. “An opposition return to power in 2029 is not only possible; the momentum is already building.”

The CDC–COP leader also raised concerns about issues he believes are affecting the country, including allegations of constitutional violations, rising insecurity, corruption, unemployment, and social challenges.

He further urged opposition groups to remain organized and vigilant, stressing the importance of protecting democratic processes and ensuring credible elections in the future.

Massaquoi concluded by calling for greater political awareness among citizens, warning that the opposition must begin mobilizing early rather than waiting until the election period.

According to him, many Liberians are increasingly demanding improved governance and stronger leadership as the nation navigates its current political and economic challenges.
