Gompa City, Nimba County – Emmanuel Williams II, Director of the Public Investment Unit at the Department of Budget and Development Planning, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), has urged county development and financial officers to strengthen constructive dialogue as a pathway to advancing climate resilience, sustainable growth, and inclusive development at the local level.
Williams made the call at the close of a two-day regional capacity-building workshop on Climate Change and Climate Financing, held August 11–12, 2025, in Gompa City under the theme “Enhancing Awareness and Capacity Building.”
The training aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of climate change impacts—especially on development and children—while equipping local authorities with the skills to integrate climate resilience and child-sensitive strategies into planning processes.
Speaking on behalf of Deputy Minister for Administration Hon. Bill McGill Jones, Williams conveyed greetings from Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and the Ministry’s senior management team.
He emphasized that effective collaboration and open dialogue among local leaders are vital for achieving Liberia’s climate adaptation and development objectives.
