LRA, Orange Liberia, Ecobank Launched Mobile Tax Payment Platform

In a major stride toward digital financial inclusion, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), in partnership with Orange Liberia and Ecobank Liberia, has launched the Integrated Orange Mobile Money Platform, a groundbreaking service that enables Liberians to pay taxes and service fees from their mobile phones without the need for internet access.

The platform directly links Orange Money with the Liberia Integrated Tax Administration System (LITAS), streamlining tax payments across 18 government ministries and agencies. Taxpayers will receive instant SMS receipts confirming their payment details, ensuring both transparency and convenience.

The official launch ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including LRA Acting Commissioner General Gabriel Montgomery, Orange Money CEO Maxwell Dodd, and Ecobank Liberia Managing Director Salamata Dillo. Each emphasized the platform’s potential to revolutionize tax compliance by making the process easier, faster, and more accessible—particularly for rural communities and underserved populations.

“This initiative is not just a technological advancement; it’s a major win for taxpayer convenience and national revenue growth,” said Montgomery.

The partnership marks a pivotal moment in Liberia’s tax reform efforts, as the government moves to enhance efficiency, accountability, and digital access to public services.
