Kemayah Shuts Down 2029 Speculation, Insists Weah Will Lead CDC Comeback

Political tensions are already building ahead of Liberia’s 2029 elections, as senior CDC figure Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah Sr. forcefully rejected claims that former President George M. Weah will step aside from the race.

Speaking on Freedom FM, the former Foreign Minister dismissed reports suggesting that Weah plans to forgo a presidential bid and hand over political leadership to Alternative National Congress leader Alexander Cummings. Kemayah described the rumors as false and malicious, insisting they are designed to mislead the public.

He made it clear that Weah, Liberia’s 25th President, remains firmly in contention and will appear on the ballot in 2029.

Kemayah went further, portraying Weah as central to the country’s political future. He argued that the former president is best positioned to address the economic hardship and challenges currently facing Liberians, expressing confidence that Weah will secure victory and return to power as Liberia’s 27th President.

The MOVEE political leader also signaled strong confidence within the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), predicting a decisive electoral win. He urged party supporters to stay united and focused as preparations for the 2029 campaign begin to take shape.

His remarks highlight early political maneuvering and messaging as parties begin positioning themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive election.
