‘No Turning Back’: Saah Joseph Rejects Opposition Comeback as He Rallies Behind Boakai

Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph is drawing a firm political line, openly backing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration while dismissing growing opposition narratives about a return to power.

Speaking publicly, the senator framed Liberia’s current political moment as one of forward movement rather than reversal, pushing back against rhetoric suggesting a comeback by former ruling figures.

“To those who say they are coming back, we are moving forward,” he declared.

Although he did not directly mention former President George Manneh Weah, his remarks have been widely interpreted as a response to recent opposition messaging and early political positioning ahead of future elections.

Joseph placed Liberia’s political evolution within a broader historical context, suggesting that successive elections are interconnected and should be viewed as part of a continuous national journey.

“Because if there had been no 2017, there would not have been a 2023,” he noted.

Aligning with the Administration

The senator expressed confidence in the current government’s direction, describing ongoing efforts as signs of national progress. He pledged his full support for the administration, emphasizing that the success of the presidency is tied to the success of all public officials.

“If the President does not succeed, I myself cannot succeed. That is the reality,” he stated.

According to Joseph, his backing of the administration is rooted in national interest rather than personal or partisan considerations. He stressed that government officials must work collectively to implement policies and sustain development initiatives.

Political Undercurrents

His comments come amid rising political activity across Liberia, as both ruling and opposition camps begin shaping narratives ahead of the next electoral cycle. Public statements from key figures increasingly reflect early positioning around governance performance, continuity, and leadership alternatives.

Joseph concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the Boakai administration, signaling that he intends to remain a strong ally as the government advances its agenda.

“We are committed to providing all the necessary support to ensure the success of this administration and the continued advancement of our country,” he said.

His remarks underscore a broader political reality: the battle over Liberia’s future direction is already taking shape well ahead of the next elections.
