Monrovia, Jan. 15 — Dr. Clarence Moniba, political leader of the Liberia National Union (LINU), has launched a strong critique of the current administration, asserting that it has failed to bring meaningful change and remains largely indistinguishable from the former Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) government.
Speaking on Punch FM in Monrovia on Thursday, Moniba said ordinary Liberians continue to face severe economic hardship, inadequate public services, and limited opportunities, despite repeated assurances of reform by those in power. According to him, the living conditions of citizens have not improved, and the challenges experienced under the CDC administration remain prevalent.
“The conditions of the Liberian people are still the same,” Moniba stated, arguing that the promise of transformation has not translated into tangible improvements in daily life.
The LINU leader also questioned the government’s claims of progress, particularly regarding development initiatives being highlighted as achievements. He contended that many of the projects being promoted were initiated several years ago and did not originate under the current administration.
“Most of the projects being implemented today were started five or six years ago,” Moniba said, adding that there is little justification for political actors to compete over credit for initiatives that predate the present government.
Moniba called for greater honesty and accountability in governance, urging national leaders to focus on addressing the pressing needs of the population rather than engaging in political self-promotion. He emphasized that effective leadership should be measured by improved living standards and access to essential services, not by rhetoric or recycled accomplishments.
His comments come amid growing public debate over the pace of development and governance reforms, as many Liberians continue to assess whether the current administration has fulfilled its campaign promises of change and improved national direction.
