Citizens of District Two in Grand Kru County are expressing growing frustration and disappointment over the deplorable condition of the road linking Barclayville, Buah, Geekan, Dorbor, and Forpoh. The poor state of the road has severely affected transportation, trade, and access to basic social services, with residents describing the problem as longstanding.
The condition of the road has made it extremely difficult for residents to access essential services such as healthcare and education. Pregnant women and critically ill patients are often carried for hours to reach medical facilities, and, in some cases, lives have been lost along the way. Local trade has also suffered, as farmers struggle to transport their produce to markets, resulting in spoilage and significant economic losses.
Residents are now calling on the government to prioritize road rehabilitation and broader infrastructure development in the area. District #2 Representative J. Fonati Koffa has acknowledged the challenges and disclosed that he is working with partners, including Atlantic Resources–Liberia, to rehabilitate roads and construct schools.
Although the government has allocated funds for infrastructure projects in Grand Kru County—including road rehabilitation and the construction of hand pumps—residents are urging authorities to expedite implementation to address the community’s urgent needs.
