The University of Liberia (UL) Debate Team has won the World Environment Day 2025 Inter-University Debate Competition.
The competition was hosted by Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in commemoration of the 2025 World Environment Day celebration.
Following the remarkable debate performance, the host organized a grand award ceremony at the Paynesville City Hall on Thursday, June 5, 2025, crowning the University of Liberia Debate Team as champions of the EPA World Environment Day Debate Competition.
The indoor crowning ceremony followed a parade that started at 8:00 am from SKD Boulevard to Paynesville City Hall.
The University of Liberia celebrates this victory by its Debate Team as a profound demonstration of academic excellence and courage that defy students’ daily challenges to emerge as the best-performing institution in the EPA-organized World Environment Day Debate.
The President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Layli Maparyan, has acknowledged with deep appreciation the excellent performance of the UL Debate Team and congratulated the team for bringing pride to the University.
“Our students’ academic performance speaks more of what impact we are making in their lives. The more our students emerge victorious in academic challenges, intellectual debates, and student-to-student exchanges, it only emboldens us to give nothing less than the best as Lecturers, Professors, and Administrators that prepare the next generation of leaders with excellence and integrity,” Dr. Maparyan said.
