Capitol Hill, Monrovia – Through the active oversight role and strong partnership of Grand Gedeh County District #1 Representative, Hon. Jeremiah Sokan, with House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, three young Grand Gedeans have earned places among 17 Liberians selected for the prestigious Speaker’s Scholarship Program to the Philippines.
The beneficiaries — Timothy Christian Gaye, Pyne G. Tobey, and Faguson Sneh — all members of the Friends of Sokan (FOS), will join their peers on an international educational trip designed to enhance skills, broaden perspectives, and foster global exposure.
Rep. Sokan, serving just over a year in the Legislature, has won praise for fulfilling promises in infrastructure, education, and community empowerment. Supporters say the latest achievement underscores his dedication to youth development.
“This is what representation is about,” remarked one constituent. “Through his relationship with the Speaker, our young people are getting opportunities that will shape their futures.”
Under Speaker Koon’s leadership, youth advancement has been a top priority, with the scholarship program extending learning opportunities beyond Liberia’s borders.
The Liberian delegation will participate in academic and cultural exchanges in the Philippines, with the goal of returning home better equipped to contribute to national growth.
