SANNIQUELLIE, NIMBA COUNTY – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has officially dedicated the newly renovated Camp Jones Military Barracks in Kakata, Margibi County, and Camp Grant Military Barracks in Sanniquellie, Nimba County. He called this a “significant milestone” in Liberia’s efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities and improve the well-being of its armed forces.
At the ceremony on August 9, 2025, President Boakai praised the Ministry of National Defense, the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) leadership, contractors, and local communities for their contributions to completing the projects. He noted that the upgraded barracks will ease overcrowding at existing military facilities and offer soldiers better living and working conditions.
“These improved facilities show our nation’s appreciation for your vigilance, discipline, and readiness to serve,” Boakai said. He encouraged soldiers to take pride in maintaining the barracks and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
The President highlighted that these renovations demonstrate his administration’s commitment to modernizing Liberia’s defense infrastructure, supporting soldiers’ welfare, and building stronger connections between the military and civilians.
Boakai promised to keep investing in the AFL’s training, equipment, and facilities, describing the barracks as “hubs of professionalism” and “beacons of stability” that will serve the country for years to come.
