Pres. Boakai Tours Freeport of Monrovia to Boost ARREST Agenda Implementation

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai visited the Freeport of Monrovia, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to advancing the ARREST Agenda, which emphasizes accountability, economic revitalization, and improved public service delivery.

During the visit, the President inspected the Presidential Warehouse and made a brief stop at the Corporate Office of the National Port Authority (NPA), showcasing his hands-on leadership approach. The visit highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening institutions critical to trade facilitation, revenue collection, and national productivity.

President Boakai was welcomed by NPA Managing Director Sekou A.M. Dukuly, Deputy Managing Director for Administration James R. Bernard, and Deputy Managing Director for Operations Emmanuel Horton.

Discussions during the visit centered on improving operational efficiency, governance reforms, and service delivery at the port—key areas considered vital for accelerating economic activity and enhancing Liberia’s global competitiveness. As Liberia’s main maritime gateway, the Freeport of Monrovia handles the majority of imports and exports, playing a pivotal role in customs revenue collection and supply chain reliability.

The engagement reaffirmed the NPA’s dedication to aligning reforms with the President’s vision for inclusive growth and national renewal. Officials emphasized that transparent governance, efficient port management, and customer-focused service are essential to implementing the ARREST Agenda and generating broader economic benefits for businesses and consumers.

President Boakai’s visit underscores continued executive oversight of strategic economic institutions and reinforces the administration’s focus on performance, accountability, and results as central pillars of national development.
