Pres. Boakai Reserve and Review the 2024 U.S. States of Department Human Rights Reports on Liberia ON LIBERIA

Executive Mansion, Monrovia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, has received and is currently reviewing the 2024 U.S. State Department Human Rights Report on Liberia.

This Report, prepared and published by the United States Department of State, provides an assessment of the human rights environment in Liberia over the past year, addressing civil liberties, political rights, judicial independence, press freedom, and the protection of vulnerable populations.

President Boakai expressed his Administration’s commitment to upholding the Constitution of Liberia and ensuring the protection and promotion of human rights for all citizens and residents, regardless of background or status. “Human rights are not merely legal obligations—they are

fundamental pillars of dignity, justice, and democratic governance.

This Report will guide us in identifying both our achievements and areas that require immediate attention,” stated President

Boakai.

In response, the President has urged the Ministry of Justice, the Independent National

Commission on Human Rights (INCHR), and other relevant agencies to undertake a review of the Report’s findings and collaborate to develop and implement actionable policy recommendations

aimed at strengthening the nation’s human rights framework.

The President assures both the Liberian people and the international community that the findings of the 2024 U.S. State Department Human Rights Report will be taken with the seriousness they

merit and that necessary reforms will be pursued diligently to align Liberia’s human rights environment with global standards.
