Kakata, Margibi County – The LICOSESS College of Education has graduated sixty-three professional teachers during its sixth graduation ceremony, conferring both “C” Certificates and Associate of Arts Degrees in various disciplines.
The colorful event, held at the Zion Christian Fellowship Church, brought together educational stakeholders, government officials, members of the Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty, and staff. The occasion was marked with joy and pride as graduates celebrated their achievements alongside family and friends.
Delivering the valedictory address, Mr. Isaac Mulbah urged his fellow graduates to see their accomplishments not as the end of their journey, but as the beginning of their contribution to Liberia’s educational and social development. He encouraged them to volunteer their time, share the knowledge gained, and serve as “agents of positive change” in their respective communities. “The certificates and degrees we have earned are not the finish line but the beginning line,” Mulbah stressed. He also appealed to Margibi County Senator Emmanuel Nuquah to support the graduates in pursuing higher education through scholarships.
Representing Senator Nuquah, his Chief of Office Staff, Mr. Moses Dennis, congratulated the graduates and urged them to put their training into practice in classrooms across Liberia. He emphasized the importance of shaping young minds responsibly and commended LICOSESS College for its continuous contributions to teacher education. In a gesture of support, Ms. Vanda Koroma presented US$1,000 on behalf of Senator Nuquah toward the College’s building project in Margibi County.
Mr. Austin B. Tiappa, Coordinator of the Kakata Site, presented the graduates to the college administration, recalling the challenges and achievements of their training journey. He disclosed that 71 students were initially turned over for training in August 2024, but 63 successfully completed the program. He added that during two trimesters, the institution was able to recruit 82 additional students, a sign of growing confidence in the college.
Of the graduates, 36 earned general education certificates, while 27 were awarded Associate of Arts Degrees. Receiving the graduates on behalf of the college president, Prof. Thomas Oppong Asare commended them for their perseverance and urged them to use their gifts to build inclusive communities and champion human dignity.
The ceremony concluded with the Board of Trustees officially confirming and honoring the graduates as trained and professional teachers, ready to contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s education system.
The milestone, stakeholders noted, not only reflects the resilience of the graduates but also demonstrates LICOSESS College’s expanding role in strengthening the country’s teaching workforce and shaping the future of education in Liberia.
