Harbel City, Margibi County – August 1, 2025. Liberia’s campaign in the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers officially kicked off Thursday morning, as the first group of players and officials flew to Senegal. The team departed from Roberts International Airport in Harbel City, Margibi County.
The group includes key officials and players representing Liberia on the continental stage. Leading the delegation is Club President Grace Hawa Weah, along with Head Coach Robert Lartey, Secretary General Gustufus Karpeh, Team Manager Chally Johnson, Safe Guiding Officer Mary F. Kamara, Trainer Emmanuel Bearkie, and Kit Manager Emmanuel Bono. Two journalists, Aquoi Massaquoi and Henry Bobby Adzanu, are also traveling to cover Liberia’s participation.
The squad features team captain Margaret Stewart, Ruggy Joof, Diamond Dahn, Marthaline Moore, Louise Brown, Mabinty Camara, Djaka Cherif Haidara, Anita Davis, Catherine Jatta, Mbassey Darboe, Jennice Tisdell, Diatta Langama, Rashidatu Kamara, Angeline B. Kieh, and Success Gaye.
Organizers confirmed that the official head of delegation couldn’t travel with this first group but is expected to join the final team departing later.
These qualifiers in Senegal are an important milestone for Liberia’s women’s football, as the team aims to earn a spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League—a tournament that has quickly become the top stage for women’s club football across Africa.
