Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has held a significant diplomatic meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha.
Dr. Al Khulaifi, who also serves as Chief Negotiator for the Israel-Gaza ceasefire and a recent recipient of the American Hostage Freedom Award, reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Liberia and other nations within the Sahel region. His global recognition added weight to the importance of the Doha engagement.
According to the Liberian Foreign Ministry, Minister Nyanti’s participation in the dialogue came at the personal invitation of Dr. Al Khulaifi—a gesture underscoring Liberia’s rising diplomatic profile and its continued dedication to regional solidarity and peacebuilding.
During the meeting, Minister Nyanti highlighted Liberia’s perspectives on the crisis in Mali and broader peace and development strategies across West Africa. She emphasized the need for sustained international collaboration to tackle the escalating humanitarian and security challenges in the Sahel.
The high-level dialogue brought together foreign ministers from Burkina Faso, Niger, The Gambia, and Mali, alongside representatives from the African Union Commission for Mali and the Sahel (MISAHEL). Discussions focused on aligning national and regional strategies with global development frameworks, enhancing humanitarian coordination, and strengthening resilience in fragile communities.
Liberia’s participation at the summit reaffirmed its commitment to regional diplomacy, inclusive dialogue, and strategic partnerships that promote peace and development.
Observers say Minister Nyanti’s engagement with Qatar’s top diplomat signals a new phase in Liberia’s foreign policy—one defined by proactive diplomacy, principled leadership, and deeper collaboration within the global community.
