MONROVIA, August 29, 2025 – The Chief Executive Officer of the Kids Educational Engagement Project (KEEP), Madam Brenda Brewer Moore, is preparing to launch her newest children’s book, “Korpo’s Swimming Challenge,” on September 5, 2025, at the Liberia Learning Center in Paynesville.
The book, recently certified by the Ministry of Education, will be integrated into early childhood classrooms across Liberia, marking another step forward in Moore’s mission to strengthen literacy and promote culturally relevant learning.
Moore, a leading advocate for children’s education and reading culture, has so far authored seven children’s books, four of which—including “Sundaymah’s Adventure” and “Free to Be Me”—are officially approved for classroom use. Her works center on themes of identity, courage, and the everyday brilliance of Liberian children.
In an interview ahead of the launch, Moore stressed the importance of representation in children’s literature.
“Too often, our bookshelves are filled with foreign narratives. I want our children to hold stories that feel familiar, stories that speak their language, reflect their communities, and affirm their worth,” she said.
She described her books as more than just stories, but as tools for “planting seeds of literacy, pride, and possibility,” with the goal of nurturing “a generation that reads, dreams, and leads.”
The upcoming launch will bring together KEEP partners, officials from the Ministry of Education, representatives of key agencies, and other distinguished guests to celebrate what organizers describe as a milestone in Liberia’s children’s literacy movement.
With “Korpo’s Swimming Challenge,” Moore continues to expand her influence in Liberia’s education sector, ensuring that more children not only learn to read, but also see themselves reflected in the stories they grow up with.
