The parents of an 11-year-old girl in Pleebo-Sodoken District, Maryland County, are demanding justice after their daughter was allegedly raped by a man identified as Musa Fonana, the stepson of the owner of the Exodus Entertainment Center in Pleebo City.
The family is calling on the Government of Liberia to ensure the re-arrest of Fonana, who is accused of sexually assaulting the child on the morning of Friday, January 2, 2026.
According to the girl’s mother, who spoke to the Kanty Network News (DKNN), her daughter had gone to fetch water that morning and returned home with bloodstains on her clothes. When questioned, the child reportedly revealed that she had been raped by Musa Fonana and further alleged that he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
The mother stated that she contacted the alleged perpetrator’s parents, but was told that both children were juveniles and therefore considered too young to appear in court.
She further explained that the case was reported to a medical facility for examination, and the medical report was turned over to the police, who had ordered the examination before beginning their investigation. However, the case was allegedly dropped afterward.
The mother also alleged that the accused’s step-parents have been boasting about their connections within the government and claiming that nothing will come out of the case, regardless of any efforts made.
Following these concerns, the victim’s mother claimed that the Liberia National Police withheld the medical report. This prompted the Kanty News Network (DKNN) to launch its own investigation into the report, which reportedly confirmed that the minor had indeed been raped.
In a related development, the accused’s stepmother, Decontee Sylla, said she reached out to some community members to appeal to the victim’s family to withdraw the complaint from the police, but the family has refused to abandon the case.
