Defamatory: Senator Duncan Demands Apology From Deputy Minister Sando Amid War of Words

MONROVIA, LIBERIA, August 28, 2025 – Sinoe County Senator Crayton Oldman Duncan has strongly criticized Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sando’s remarks, calling them “deeply unprofessional” and “an insult to the people of Sinoe County.”

In a statement released Thursday, Senator Duncan’s office expressed disappointment over what they called “personal attacks and insults” by the Deputy Minister. Minister Sando reportedly questioned the Senator’s mental fitness, calling him a “spineless and unprincipled so-called young leader,” and dismissed his criticism of the government as “madness.”

Senator Duncan said such comments are inappropriate for a senior government official. “The Ministry of Information should provide accurate information and promote respectful discussion, not be used for harmful attacks on elected officials,” the statement said.

The Senator explained that his original concerns were about important national issues like economic instability, youth unemployment, agriculture, security, and institutional reform. He accused Sando of trying to reduce the discussion to just one road project in Sinoe, emphasizing that progress should be measured by improvements in health, education, and living standards.

Duncan’s office also rejected claims that he had failed Sinoe County, highlighting projects and support he provided even before becoming a Senator, including:

Paying WAEC and WASSCE fees for Greenville students since 2015. Building bridges, schools, clinics, youth centers, and market buildings since 2017. Offering business loans to market women. Providing buses for student transport in Greenville, with three new buses expected next week after earlier ones were vandalized.

“These efforts show why the people of Sinoe chose him as Senator with strong support,” the statement said.

Duncan’s office demanded that Deputy Minister Sando withdraw his “false and damaging” statements and publicly apologize to the people of Sinoe. They also called on Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah to maintain professionalism in the ministry and urged the Boakai administration to focus on real solutions instead of personal attacks.

“The people of Sinoe know the truth because they see the results of their Senator’s work every day,” the statement ended, reaffirming Duncan’s dedication to accountability and national progress despite political distractions.
