Harper, Maryland County — February 6, 2026 — The Community Initiatives Alliance (CIA), a non-profit organization, in collaboration with the Divine Connections Church based in the United States, has made a significant contribution of medical and humanitarian supplies to the James Jenkins Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper City, Maryland County.
The donation, presented during a ceremony at the hospital, included wheelchairs, medical drugs, reading glasses, school bags, shoes, copybooks, and other essential items meant to support both patients and community members.
According to Mr. Albert G. Neufville, Acting Coordinator of the CIA in Maryland County, the initiative is part of the organization’s continued efforts to assist vulnerable groups and strengthen healthcare and educational institutions across the county.
Neufville explained that the CIA team plans to conduct an assessment tour to engage departmental heads and identify the hospital’s most pressing challenges. The findings, he said, will help guide future interventions in partnership with the Divine Connections Church and other donors in the United States.
He also revealed that the Community Initiatives Alliance operates in Montserrado and Maryland Counties, providing both medical and non-medical assistance to health facilities, including the Pleebo Health Center. Plans are already underway to extend support to other clinics and hospitals nationwide.
Receiving the donation, Dr. Shadrach Konnan Gono, Medical Director of the James Jenkins Dossen Memorial Hospital, expressed deep gratitude to the CIA for what he described as a timely and meaningful contribution to the hospital’s operations.
Dr. Gono noted that the supplies will benefit a wide range of patients, especially those from southeastern Liberia and neighboring Côte d’Ivoire, who often travel to JJ Dossen Hospital for medical services.
He further explained that the donation includes life-saving medications for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, which will enhance nutritional health during and after childbirth.
Dr. Gono also called on the CIA and its partners to continue supporting the hospital to help overcome ongoing shortages and logistical challenges affecting service delivery in Maryland County.
