Monrovia, Liberia – The City of Hope Academy (CoHA) has marked its first anniversary, celebrating a year of educational service, community support, and collective dedication to shaping Liberia’s future.
On August 14, 2024, the institution opened its doors for the first time — a moment its leadership now describes as the beginning of “a journey of a thousand miles with a single step.” One year later, the milestone is being hailed as both a celebration and a moment for reflection.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the school’s leadership expressed deep gratitude to God for the strength, wisdom, financial resources, and grace that have sustained the academy through its first year. “It has been a very good one and I am grateful to the Almighty for giving us the strength, wisdom, finances, and grace to come this far,” the statement read.
The City of Hope Academy also extended appreciation to its partners, friends, and supporters for their generosity. According to the school, contributions from well-meaning Liberians and other donors played a vital role in its ability to provide quality education over the past year.
“Our sincere gratitude goes to our partners and friends for their generous donations. Without your support, we couldn’t have reached this far, because I can’t do it alone,” the statement continued. “May the Almighty continue to bless you and your family.”
The school’s leadership further acknowledged the efforts of the Children’s Hope Foundation (CHF) and the entire CoHA staff for their commitment and hard work. “Bravo for a job well done,” the statement said. “Let’s keep up the good work. Together we are building the future of our beloved nation Liberia.”
Over the past year, CoHA has sought to position itself as more than an academic institution, aiming to serve as a platform for hope, development, and moral guidance. With a mission grounded in community service and educational empowerment, the academy’s leaders say they remain committed to producing future leaders who will contribute positively to Liberia’s growth.
The anniversary statement closed with a celebratory note: “Cheers to one year of wonderful work. Long live CHF, long live CoHA, and long live Mama Liberia!”
As the academy enters its second year, its administrators reaffirm their vision of expanding opportunities for Liberian children and deepening partnerships with individuals and organizations who share in the goal of national development through education.
