CDC Supporters Challenge Unity Party’s Bus Celebration

Supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have sharply responded to the Unity Party’s recent celebration over the arrival of 35 new public buses, calling the move “nothing new.”

According to the group, former President George M. Weah’s administration previously procured 45 buses from India, which were immediately deployed to serve routes across Monrovia and its surroundings. They recalled that, at the time, passengers enjoyed three weeks of free rides, a gesture personally initiated by President Weah.

The CDC supporters argue that instead of repeating old initiatives, the Unity Party (UP) government should focus on introducing fresh and innovative solutions that demonstrate progress beyond what the previous administration accomplished.

They contend that celebrating a similar achievement without adding value “reflects a lack of creativity and continuity in governance,” suggesting that the public deserves genuine improvement rather than recycled projects.

The debate highlights the increasing political rivalry between supporters of the ruling Unity Party and the opposition CDC, as both sides continue to claim credit for national development efforts.
