Grand Bassa, August 27, 2025 – The Annie T. Doe Memorial Academy has reached a remarkable academic milestone as all of its 26 ninth graders and 40 sixth graders successfully passed the 2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) tests, marking a 100% success rate.
Founder and CEO of the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation, Mrs. Saya Doe-Sio, expressed deep pride in the students, teachers, and staff for their achievement. “This moment represents years of faith, sacrifice, and belief in the power of education,” she said, describing the success as a reflection of the academy’s mission to provide quality, tuition-free education for Liberian children.
Education advocate Hassan Fadiga also highlighted the achievement in his widely shared post titled “A Beacon of Hope from Annie T. Doe Memorial Academy in Bassa.” He praised the school as a “symbol of excellence and resilience,” noting its ability to deliver results despite resource constraints.
Established 14 years ago by Saya and her husband Francis Sio, the academy began with 75 students and has since expanded to serve more than 600 tuition-free learners, supported by 35 staff members. Beyond academics, the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation runs women’s microfinance programs, vocational training initiatives, and has constructed a community clinic awaiting full operational funding.
The school is now preparing for its first-ever high school graduation in August 2026, a milestone anticipated to mark another chapter in its history of impact.
To support its growth, the Foundation will host its 14th Annual Fundraising Gala on October 18, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Proceeds will go toward the academy’s expansion, continued tuition-free education, and ongoing community development programs.
