GRAND BASSAโ Cllr. Charlyne M. Brumskine has strongly distanced herself and her entire family from the recent evictions of residents and business owners in Buchanan City, calling the actions โunjust and inhumane.โ
Her public statement comes after the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Grand Bassa County issued a Writ of Possession on July 12, 2025, ordering the eviction of several business centers and at least one private home. The courtโs action was taken in favor of the Walker P. L. Brumskine family, identified as the original owners of the land in question.
However, Cllr. Charlyne M. Brumskine a direct descendant and heir of the late Walker P. L. Brumskine says the individuals enforcing the evictions have no legal or familial ties to her great-grandfather and acted without any approval from the Brumskine family.
โNeither I nor any member of the Brumskine family has authorized, endorsed, or participated in these unjust and inhumane removals,โ she declared in a firm public statement.
She further emphasized that her family knows nothing about the eviction process and was not consulted or involved in any legal action leading to the removals.
The statement is being viewed as a bold defense of the Brumskine legacy and a call for transparency as tensions rise in Buchanan over land rights, legal authority, and social justice.
