Monrovia, August 5, 2025 — The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) has issued a strongly worded letter to the head of the West African Examinations Council in Liberia (WAEC-Liberia), Mr. Dale G. Gbotoe, in response to his recent remarks at the Ministry of Information’s press briefing.
NASCOL welcomed WAEC’s decision to halt the early release of the 2024–2025 examination results, initially set for August 6, claiming the reversal was prompted by concerns they raised during an August 3 press conference. The group described the move as “the first time for a premature baby of WAEC to be aborted.”
However, NASCOL rejected Gbotoe’s characterization of their claims as “misinformation.” The student body reiterated allegations of persistent exam paper leaks, contradictory results, inconsistent marking schemes, and poor pay for contract markers — conditions they argue fuel malpractice. They also criticized the absence of a formal appeal process for dissatisfied candidates.
The group warned WAEC against manipulating or issuing multiple results for this year’s exams, stating that “anything on the contrary will meet the greatest resistance.” NASCOL vowed to defend the interests of Liberia’s students, urging the council to ensure transparency and fairness in releasing the WASSCE results.
