Monrovia, Liberia – The University of Liberia (UL) is celebrating one of its own, Thomas Tamba Bundoo, who has been selected as a finalist for the 2025–2026 Community Solutions Program, an international fellowship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Bundoo, a Master of Arts student in International Relations at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida School of International Studies, was chosen from a highly competitive pool of more than 12,600 applicants representing 102 countries. He now joins 65 emerging leaders from across the globe for the intensive three-month leadership development program in the United States.
Ahead of his departure, Bundoo met with UL President Dr. Layli Maparyan, whom he described as a key supporter of his journey.
“When I paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Maparyan in May and informed her about my selection for the U.S. Government’s prestigious International Fellowship (Community Solutions Program), she was so excited. From that moment onwards, she became very concerned and supportive in every aspect of this journey. I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with Dr. Maparyan. She is not just a President for me, but a very supportive and dedicated mentor,” Bundoo said.
Bundoo earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration in 2022, where he also served as President of the Department’s graduating class. Shortly after, he enrolled in the master’s program at UL, continuing his academic and leadership journey.
His selection for the Community Solutions Program marks not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the University of Liberia, highlighting the institution’s role in nurturing future leaders with a global outlook.
