The Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment has suspended and disrobed Chief Inspector Patrick Sendolo, the Deputy Commander of the Crime Services Division (CSD) in Bong County, for allegedly releasing a burglary suspect without proper authorization.
It is alleged that Officer Sendolo ordered the release of a suspect who was recently involved in the burglary of the Joma Business Center in Gbarnga.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday following Inspector Sendolo’s alleged actions, CSD Commander James Karto said the decision to disrobe Sendolo followed direct orders from the Liberia National Police Headquarters in Monrovia.
He said Officer Patrick Sendolo is now under serious investigation by the Police Professional Standards Division and is expected to be forwarded to Monrovia to face further questioning regarding his alleged involvement in the suspect’s unlawful release.
According to Commander Karto, Sendolo acted alone and without consultation when he released the suspect, who had recently been turned over to the police by civilians following a major burglary at the Joma Business Center in Gbarnga.
Commander Karto described the actions of his deputy as illegal, unethical, and undermining the integrity of the police force.
He confirmed that Sendolo’s office has been locked and that he has been relieved of his post with immediate effect as the investigation unfolds.
While he has not been placed in a holding cell, Officer Sendolo remains under strict police watch at the LNP Bong County Detachment Headquarters in Gbarnga.
Officer Sendolo has been suspended along with six other officers, including both male and female officers.
When reached for comment, Officer Patrick Sendolo expressed his willingness to speak to the media but said he would do so after the investigation or once authorized by the officers conducting the probe into his alleged actions.
Officer Sendolo made the statement off the record at the police headquarters in Gbarnga.
This is a developing story……
