“Garbage Everywhere: Barclayville Mayor Sounds Alarm as Poor Sanitation and Public Neglect Threaten City’s Health”

Mounting sanitation problems in Barclayville are raising serious concerns about public health and civic responsibility, with the city’s mayor warning that growing waste pollution could undermine the well-being of residents if urgent action is not taken.

The Mayoress of the city, Madam Bloh, has issued a strong appeal to citizens to take responsibility for the worsening sanitation situation affecting the capital of Grand Kru County.

Speaking during a recent engagement with community members, the mayor pointed to the widespread dumping of garbage in streets, public areas, and drainage systems as a major contributor to the city’s deteriorating environment. According to her, the continued practice of indiscriminate waste disposal is not only damaging the image of Barclayville but also creating serious health risks.

She acknowledged that the city administration has attempted to implement sanitation initiatives, but those efforts have produced limited results due to poor cooperation from residents.

“The city administration alone cannot solve the sanitation problem,” the mayor stressed, noting that maintaining a clean environment requires active participation from every resident.

The mayor warned that many people continue to dispose of waste along roadsides and in open spaces without regard for the environmental and health consequences. Such practices, she said, can lead to pollution, blocked drainage systems, and an increased risk of disease outbreaks.

While calling for greater public discipline, Madam Bloh also highlighted the structural challenges facing the municipal government. She explained that the city operates with limited resources, making it difficult to expand waste collection services and improve sanitation infrastructure.

Despite those constraints, she reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving sanitation in Barclayville. As the political and administrative center of Grand Kru County, she said the city must set a positive example by promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and protection of public health.

To address the situation, the mayor said the city government will continue working with local leaders, community groups, and other stakeholders to raise awareness about sanitation and encourage residents to adopt responsible waste management practices.

Public education and community participation, she noted, will remain critical to changing habits and ensuring that sanitation initiatives succeed.

The mayor concluded with a renewed call for collective action, emphasizing that the future of Barclayville depends on the willingness of its citizens to take responsibility for their surroundings and work together to build a cleaner and healthier city.
