The Liberia Football Association (LFA), in collaboration with the British Embassy in Monrovia, is preparing to dedicate newly constructed dressing rooms at Bluefield while also hosting a one-day football tournament aimed at promoting girls’ participation in the sport.
The two institutions held an organizational meeting on March 6 to finalize arrangements for the upcoming event, which will highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots football development in Liberia.
The dressing rooms, funded and constructed by the British Embassy, are designed to support young athletes participating in the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) as well as those competing in Liberia’s National Youth and Grassroots Leagues. The facility will serve both boys and girls, providing improved conditions for training and match-day preparation.
Organizers say the official dedication ceremony and the girls’ tournament will take place on March 14 at Bluefield. The event will feature female footballers between the ages of 6 and 12, offering them a platform to showcase their skills while encouraging greater involvement of girls in football.
The planning meeting brought together several key stakeholders, including the British Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires to Liberia, Simon Tooth, along with the second and third vice presidents of the LFA and members of the association’s Technical Department.
Officials from both the LFA and the British Embassy noted that the initiative reflects their shared commitment to youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and the expansion of grassroots football programs throughout Liberia.
Once completed and officially opened, the new facility is expected to significantly improve the training environment for young players while contributing to the long-term development of football talent in the country.
