Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence participated in the launch of a month-long vacation school program organized by STEAM Robotics, with support from the Nyonblee Care Foundation. The 21-day event is aimed at training over 100 male and female students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with a special focus on robotics.
Speaking at the launch held at the Paynesville Volka Mission School, Senator Karnga-Lawrence shared that the program, which started over a decade ago, has already contributed to the capacity of numerous young people in Liberia.
She encouraged the students to take full advantage of the three-week program, urging them to envision a future shaped by careers in STEM that could transform not only their lives but also the society around them.
Also in attendance was Senator Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County, who was among several distinguished guests at the event. He expressed admiration for the studentsโ creativity and teamwork, saying it gave him hope for the future of Liberia.
โThe generation behind us has potential. Make use of this programโdonโt mess it up,โ Senator Konneh said.
He added that, like him, many people have their own stories of challenges and triumph, but emphasized that He also said, like him, everyone has a story. He promised to play a role in helping them provide recommendations to some of the universities in the US but warned that it will depend on their character and brain to keep them there.
The event was also attended by Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine who also encourages young people to take advantage of opportunities given them and make their lives better.
